biography
I was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and grew up in Florida.
Growing up, I
was always into art - mostly drawing and painting. At one point I wanted
to get into fashion design. I stumbled into web design by a friend’s
suggestion - it sounded like the most stable artistic job out there.
I picked up a book on HTML and have been hooked ever since.
Since then, I have developed a passion for coding,
while still never
letting go of my visual, artistic side. These two sides of me have led
me to be a mix of designer and programmer.
I graduated from UCF in December 2006 with my Bachelor’s in Computer Science.
I work at Google in Mountain View, CA, where I create dynamic web applications in Python on AppEngine. I focus on scalability, semantics, accessibility, and code readability; I always design with SEO and mobile phones in mind; and I've trained colleagues in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Every day that I step into my office I'm reminded that I'm working for the most amazing and innovative company ever. The work I do is seen by millions, which is both a great inspiration and a great reward.
I am most passionate about
building entire websites from the ground up; art and illustration (I recently illustrated a children's book!); accessibility for the web; and semantic HTML.
